Title: Sr. Accounting Supervisor

Employee Status: Regular Full Time

Work From Home Option: Hybrid - 2 Days/Week (40% Remote)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Overview:

The Sr. Accounting Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of various departments within NYRA, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and the efficient management of accounting functions. This role involves supervising and mentoring a Senior accountant, reviewing financial statements, managing month-end and year-end close processes, and maintaining strong internal controls.

Essential Functions:

Supervision and Leadership:
1. Supervise a Senior accountant, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high levels of performance.
2. Assign tasks and projects to staff, monitor progress, and provide feedback on performance.
3. Conduct regular performance reviews and offer constructive feedback for professional development.
Financial Reporting:
1. Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS, etc.). to senior management.
2. Analyze financial data and trends to identify potential risks and opportunities.
3. Prepare P&L variance analysis and explanations monthly.
Month-End and Year-End Close:
1. Oversee the month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
2. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet schedules, including detailed review of any aged reconciling items, and resolving discrepancies.
3. Ensure proper documentation and reporting for audits and tax filings.
4. Assists with preparation and coordination of the audit process

Qualifications:

Education (minimum): A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent
Experience: Five to seven years of experience with financial reporting and month end close, and financial budgets. Experience in the gaming/wagering industry a plus.
Other Requirements: CPA designation preferred
Knowledge/Skillsets Required:
• Detail oriented and organized work habits;
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, external customers and vendors to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results;
• Excellent interpersonal skills, a team player and diplomatic when giving feedback or seeking information, even under demanding deadlines; values being part of a culturally diverse workforce;
• Determination and willingness to see projects through to completion;
• Comfortable with financial systems including SAP/Ariba and Blackline.

Pay Range / Salary:  $95,000 - $110,000
