Job Overview:

The Security Supervisor is responsible for managing the race day operation of NYRA’s wagering areas ensuring the safety and security of our facility, employees, and patrons. This position oversees security staff during race day operations. The Security Supervisor is a key uniformed member of the Security Department ensuring that NYRA’s facility, employees and patrons are always protected. Additional responsibilities include identifying floor security deficiencies and recommending mitigation strategies. Also, ensure that all duties are preformed within the guidelines of NYRA policy and procedures and NYSGC regulations.

Essential Functions:

• Provides direct supervision to the Desk Sergeant, overseeing desk operations and that activities are conducted in a lawful and efficient manner.

• Monitors all accountable equipment, ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of all equipment issued to uniform officers.

• Directs contact with subordinates in the field conducting periodic inspections of the personnel assigned to him as well as the security posts and general condition of the facility.

• Works with the Captain, Lieutenants and the Chief of Security to formulate plans for the most efficient and economical ways to operate and control the varied duties of the uniformed force during Race Days.

• Immediately report any critical developments concerning security at all NYRA tracks to the Chief of Security during Race Day Operations.

• Reviews objectives, accomplishments, activities and future plans for the uniformed force.

• Report any complaints of Race Day Uniform members to Director of Security, Chief of Security and to HR business partner.

• Maintains accurate records for evaluation of Uniform members under his command and prepares evaluation of their performance.

• Confers with Uniform supervisors to promote uniformity, understanding of purpose and efficiency in all phases of operations.


• Immediately report any serious crimes, incidents and accidents to the Investigation’s Department.



• Assist the Investigation’s Department with Mutuel, Admissions, and Parking escorts.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, Security Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role, knowledge of surveillance, preferably in a casino environment or within professional sports or multi-use venue operations.
• Extensive knowledge of incident investigation and emergency response procedures.
• Must maintain a valid Driver’s License.
• Previous experience in a union environment.
• Willingness to work all tours as assigned which involves midnights, weekends, holidays, both at Saratoga/Aqueduct/Belmont.

Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Walking the Building
May be required to travel and stay in Saratoga for the race meet.

Pay Range / Salary:  $35.50
