Title: Receiving & Assembly Barn Coordinator

Job Overview:

Receiving horses shipping in to race and verifying the licensing credentials of each participant upon arrival to the receiving barn where racing is conducted. Assigns temporary stalls and coordinates the movement of horses to and from the receiving barn before and after each race. Oversee the upkeep of stalls and monitor all activity in the receiving barn area. Call horses to the assembly barn and send horses to the paddock at designated times. Assist in securing stall numbers for barn and stall reports.

Essential Functions:

 Coordinates with trainers, stable employees, racing officials, and veterinarians to schedule examinations, administration of Lasix, claimed horses.
 Coordinates the movement of horses within the barn area, to and from the races.
 Handles complaints and requests of horse trainers and owners.
 Notifies stable supervisor, safety stewards, security, and stewards of all suspicious and unproductive activity int eh receiving/assembly barn areas.
 Support the Stall office with location of In-today horses.
 Coordinates movements of horses within the barn area to the assembly barn and the paddock at designated times.
 Assists NYRA vanning with cancellations and sending horses back to Belmont and/or Aqueduct.
 Picks up bibs on race days from Jockeys room and supplies number bibs to grooms as horse arrive in Assembly Barn.
 Picks up programs in racing office and delivers to Vet Office on race days.
 Assist Vets when CO 2 testing.
 Assists in securing stall number for barn and stall reports.

Qualifications:

Education (minimum): High school diploma or GED.
Experience: 3 years working in the horse racing industry, preferably the backstretch area.

Other (certifications): Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred

o Knowledge of Racetrack logistics;
o Strong people skills to work with people of diverse backgrounds & personalities
o Racing logistics (racing schedule, layouts of NYRA racetracks, backstretch and Assembly/Receiving Barn Area)
o Knowledge of New York horse-racing governing laws
 Skills
o Excellent verbal communication and problem-solving skills

Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Constantly moving around.

Pay Range / Salary:  $26.79-$33.00
