Job Overview:

Plans and supervises the activities of the cleaning crew which is responsible for cleaning designated public areas and offices in two NYRA racing facilities including bathrooms, locker rooms, dorms, hallways, and restaurant facilities. Supervises the activities of designated cleaning crew members in the completion of pre-cleaning racetrack facilities before the opening of the next racing meet.

Essential Functions:

Supervising Staff: Supervises the activities of a cleaning crew which is responsible for cleaning designated public areas and offices in two NYRA racing facilities. Activities include:
• Cleaning floors, sinks and other bathroom fixtures, vacuuming carpeted areas, cleaning other fixtures and office furniture, and removing trash.
• Stripping and waxing floors; shampooing carpets.
• Responding to requests and departmental needs that require cleaning services.
• Reporting and cataloging situations or conditions that require maintenance repairs.
• Supervises the activities of designated cleaning crew members in the completion of -pre-cleaning racetrack facilities before the opening of the next racing meet.
Performs a variety of supervisory duties, which include planning and assigning work to ensure adequate coverage of all facilities; ensuring that all work is done in accordance within established guidelines and procedures; inspecting work to ensure high quality of cleaning operations; reviewing the performance of staff and recommending disciplinary actions; keeping attendance records; training new staff members in cleaning requirements and the proper use of cleaning solutions and equipment; coordinating work with other departments to ensure a smooth flow of work; developing and recommending improvements to existing operating policies and procedures; and ensuring compliance with the NYRA dress code and safety regulations and requirements.

Qualifications:

Education : Associate degree or some college coursework preferred; High school diploma, GED or the equivalent work experience.

Experience: 5 years of relevant experience. At least 3 years of supervisory experience.

Pay Range / Salary:  $32.00 - $33.00
