Title: Receiving Barn Coordinator

Employee Status: Regular Full Time

Job Overview:

Receiving horses shipping in to race and verifying the licensing credentials of each participant upon arrival to the receiving barn where racing is conducted. Assigns temporary stalls and coordinates the movement of horses to and from the receiving barn before and after each race. Oversees the upkeep of stalls and monitors all activity in the receiving barn and surrounding area.

Essential Functions:

• Coordinates with trainers, stable employees, racing officials, and veterinarians to schedule examinations, administration of Lasix, claimed horses
• Coordinates movement of horses within the barn area, to and from the races
• Handles complaints and requests of horse trainers and owners.
• Notifies stable supervisor, safety stewards, security, and stewards of all suspicious and unproductive activity in the receiving barn area.
• Support the Stall office with location of In-today horses.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of racetrack logistics
• Strong people skills to work with people of diverse backgrounds and personalities
• Racing logistics, including, racing schedule, layouts of NYRA racetracks, backstretch and receiving barn areas).
• Knowledge of rules and regulations of Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority, New York State Gaming Commission, and NYRA house rules
• Educational Level Required: High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum Years and Kind of Work Experience Required: 3-5 years working in the horse racing industry, preferably in the backstretch area.

Pay Range / Salary:  $24 - $28
